At a time when many elementary and parochial schools are cutting their budgets for the arts, Heights Youth Theatre offers kids aged 5 to 18 deep practice in musical theater and the theatrical arts.
We’ve been helping kids entertain audiences for over 60 years. HYT alums include notable artists like Jim Brickman, Molly Shannon, and many others. They all attribute their early success to their experience at Heights Youth Theatre. Come and see a show. You’ll be entertained and support Arts in the Heights. Who knows? You might see a kid on their rise to stardom.
Heights Youth Theatre (HYT) is a non-profit organization committed to providing quality children’s theatre on the East Side of Cleveland. Our Mission Statement says it best–Heights Youth Theatre exists to create quality live theater that entertains its audiences and educates, encourages and inspires its young artists to grow!
Heights Youth Theatre has been in existence for 62 years and serves close to 5,000 youth and families each season. Originally a program of the Cleveland Heights-University Heights Board of Education, Heights Youth Theatre is now administered by an independent Board, an Executive Director and many hard working volunteers from the community.
For countless numbers of children, Heights Youth Theatre is their first exposure to live theater. It has been a place where young people from first through the 12th grade from the inner ring suburbs of Greater Cleveland and beyond enjoy a safe, nurturing environment and a cooperative learning experience as they work together to mount a production. The extraordinary artistic quality of Heights Youth Theatre’s productions and the sense of connection to a larger community are but a few of the compelling reasons children and adults choose to become involved with the theatre.
