9 Things Anyone Can Do To Help HYT Help Our Rising Stars

August 27, 2016 By Les Proctor Leave a Comment

We’re on a mission to help our kids hone their skills in musical theater and the theatrical arts.

[perfectpullquote align=”right” cite=”” link=”” color=”#ccc” class=”” size=”18″]”Many hands make light work. Working together makes everything easier.”[/perfectpullquote] We’re proud of our kids. And we’re proud of what we accomplish as an organization.

But the most important element is participation by the people who make up our community. We need your help. Here are 10 easy things you can do to make HYT even better.

  1. Attend A Show ~ Buy a ticket. It’s as simple as that.
  2. Attend More Than One Show ~ Many of our parents attend every show they can. Every run is unique. And it’s beautiful to see how the kids grow together. Buy a punch card and save.
  3. Tell A Friend ~ If someone asks you: “What are you doing this weekend?” That’s your cue! Tell them: “I’m going to see a show at Heights Youth Theatre!” [perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”#ccc” class=”” size=”21″]“HYT Is Like Broadway In The Heights.” “These kids have been putting on a really great show since 1956!“[/perfectpullquote]
  4. Bring A Friend ~ If you tell enough friends, eventually one is going to want to come along. Bring them with you!
  5. Place An Ad In Our Playbill ~ You make our playbill better with your presence. If you own a business, consider buying an ad in our playbill.
  6. Place A Personal Message In Our Playbill ~ If you have an actor in your family or neighborhood in a show, they love the acknowledgement that comes along with a personal message in our playbill. Place a personal ad in our playbill.
  7. Become A Sponsor ~ Being a sponsor is like placing an ad, but with even more value and benefits. The HYT community is very tight, and we support our sponsors! Become a sponsor and join our community.
  8. Make A Tax-Deductible Donation ~ If you need a tax-deduction at the end of the year, please consider HYT! Make a donation. We make every dollar count!
  9. Give Us Your Feedback ~ We’re always trying to improve. If there’s something you think could be improved, let us know about it through our suggestion box. We’ll do our best to fix it.

Thank you! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Heights Youth Theatre Brings “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” To Life

August 25, 2016 By Les Proctor Leave a Comment

At Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights

3e6726fc1a3b451178850d3efd0a928cCleveland Heights, Ohio — Heights Youth Theatre (HYT) presents “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” at Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights for a six show run. It starts on Friday October 16, 2015 and ends on Sunday, October 25, 2015.

Directed by Eugene Sumlin, with music direction by Stacy Bolton, “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” is derived from the 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner. It is based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts.

In this revival production, the kids dance, sing, and bring this classic American cartoon strip to life. The stage design is like a big cartoon strip. There’s fast action from scene to scene. And the revival score features beloved songs such as: “Happiness”, “My Blanket and Me”, and “The Baseball Game”. It also features Snoopy’s famous “Suppertime” dream sequence, backed up by the show’s ensemble doubling as a gospel children’s choir on stage.

“We’ve taken the original and added a Heights Youth Theatre twist,” said Sumlin. “This is the perfect show to kick-off the Holiday Season. We hope our audience feels the joy that Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang have given us throughout the years,” he added. “It’s an old show made new again. Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang live on through our great cast of talented performers.” [Read more…]
