If you’re looking for an entertaining and meaningful activity to get 2017 off to a good start, you should consider attending a performance of Music Man at Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights. It opens on Saturday, October 22, 2016 and closes on Sunday, October 30, 2016.

We are so delighted to bring such a classic American musical theater show to our stage. With extremely talented kids from local areas which include Cleveland Heights, University Heights, and Shaker Heights among many other suburbs in the Cleveland area, we are ready to transform the theater into the small Midwest neighborhood of River City, Iowa. They will take you back to the simpler times where community and family were the paramount values which society lived by.

The show is directed by Kelly Monaghan, with music direction by Stacy Bolton and includes 68 actors in 1st   through 12th grades. The lead cast includes Brian Tuohey as Harold Hill and Courtney Foerg as Marian. The stage manager, the person who coordinates all the moving parts to bring this production to life, is Cleveland Heights resident Claudia Lief Zalevsky along with assistant stage manager Jack Ina.

By attending an HYT performance, you’re supporting theatrical arts in the Heights. Heights Youth Theatre (HYT) has been offering kids year-round opportunities to hone their theatrical skills and entertain audiences for 64 years. Most first-time theater-goers are surprised by the caliber of the work: “The kids put on a great show”, you’ll hear them say. “It’s like Broadway in the Heights!”

Performances will be presented at Monticello Middle School Auditorium, 3665 Monticello Blvd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44121, Saturday, October 22 & 29, 2 PM, Sunday, October 23 & 30, 2 PM, Thursday, October 27, 7 PM, and Friday, October 28, 7 PM. Tickets are $10 general admission and $9 for seniors and children under 6. The box office opens 45 minutes prior to each show. Heights Youth Theatre Brings “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” To Life

August 25, 2016 By Les Proctor Leave a Comment

At Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights

3e6726fc1a3b451178850d3efd0a928cCleveland Heights, Ohio — Heights Youth Theatre (HYT) presents “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” at Monticello Middle School in Cleveland Heights for a six show run. It starts on Friday October 16, 2015 and ends on Sunday, October 25, 2015.

Directed by Eugene Sumlin, with music direction by Stacy Bolton, “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” is derived from the 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner. It is based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts.

In this revival production, the kids dance, sing, and bring this classic American cartoon strip to life. The stage design is like a big cartoon strip. There’s fast action from scene to scene. And the revival score features beloved songs such as: “Happiness”, “My Blanket and Me”, and “The Baseball Game”. It also features Snoopy’s famous “Suppertime” dream sequence, backed up by the show’s ensemble doubling as a gospel children’s choir on stage.

“We’ve taken the original and added a Heights Youth Theatre twist,” said Sumlin. “This is the perfect show to kick-off the Holiday Season. We hope our audience feels the joy that Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang have given us throughout the years,” he added. “It’s an old show made new again. Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang live on through our great cast of talented performers.” [Read more…]
