WHAT ABOUT US?
You may be wondering what is to become of our older HYT participants? Is there a show for us this year? The answer is a resounding YES! The catch is that during this unusual time, we are using an unusual approach. WE ARE GOING TO CREATE OUR OWN SHOW!!
The idea for this unique opportunity came from the lack of options for shows that have the permission to be streamed through our traditional sources as well as the desire to highlight all of you. WE MISS YOU! Rather than re-do a show that has been done often, we thought we would open up the process of doing a show to all of you.
We have always known of the incredible talent that HYT has the honor to showcase every season. You are actors, dancers, costume designers, musicians, puppeteers, singers, tech people, visual artists, and writers.
*There is a $100 Production Fee*
In the words of Dorothy Gale as she is asked what she has learned by Glinda, The Good Witch at the end of The Wizard of Oz,
“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it, to begin with."
How Does This Work?
Our current season is themed, “Together, We Will Overcome.” Based on this theme, we ask for the following:
Writers: Write a short story or monologue on this topic.
Singers: Create a shortlist of songs that you think embody this theme.
Dancers: Create a shortlist of songs on this theme that you would like to dance to.
Musicians: Create songs that you believe capture this theme.
Artists/Tech Folk: Create renderings of ideas that would support our theme.
Once we have compiled your ideas, the HYT team of professional artists will work with you to create a format for your show. Our seniors will have the chance to be showcased, and our 6th through 11th graders will have an incredible chance to work together in a new way.
We will have a full informational Meeting on March 10th at 7:00pm for all of those interested.
The rules have changed, why shouldn’t we? We are so excited to come together in this new way because...
